Please consider supporting the Shanks family in their battle against cancer.
As many of you know, Craig's cancer has returned. After 2 years in remission, they are gearing up for the next phase of the battle against stage 4 diffuse large b cell lymphoma. As they walk out the heaviness of this new reality, they are clinging to their faith in Jesus and take comfort knowing God is with them. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)
Fortunately, there is a nationally-ranked cancer care center in Tampa, Florida (Moffitt Cancer Center ) which is 3 hours from their home in Naples. They are now preparing for the next phase of treatment in late January when he will undergo an allo stem cell transplant. In addition to the rigors of this treatment, the challenge lies in the logistics of being apart for 3 months. Craig will be hospitalized for a month and then once discharged, he has to remain within 30 minutes of the hospital with a 24/7 caregiver for an additional two months.
Nicole is hoping to split her time between Naples and Tampa as she cares for Craig, Nathan (13), and Olivia (17). She will also continue to serve as the director of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Southwest Florida which she is passionate about and brings her so much joy.
To meet the logistical needs of this next chapter, Nicole will be relying heavily on friends and family. Many people will be traveling to either stay with the kids in Naples or with Craig in Tampa. Many of us love them dearly and want to help in this next season but may not be able to physically travel to Florida. We are hoping you join us in raising funds to go towards expenses like plane tickets, gas, food and more. Although it is tough to estimate, we believe that $10,000 would help to cover some of the financial burdens that come with such a difficult diagnosis and journey. Would you prayerfully consider donating to this sweet family and sharing with others?
Please know that all donations (after GoFundMe fees) will go directly to the Shanks. You are invited to follow their journey on their Caring Bridge site where updates will be shared.
