On Friday, January 11th, Sherita and Joeanna Mouzon suffered the tragic, unexpected loss of Joe Mouzon, devoted husband and father.
As they navigate this difficult time of grief and loss, Sherita is also facing new challenges and struggles in managing the unplanned costs of funeral expenses and financial strains of becoming the sole provider for their family.
For over eight years, Sherita has been a powerful and committed advocate for change as a member of Witnesses to Hunger. She has shared her struggles and experiences of overcoming poverty, trauma and adversity to improve programs and policies for our nation's families, and shared her skills as a peer counselor and survivor in overcoming addiction and trauma in order to help others do the same. She has been a champion of resilience and healing, and a valued colleague and friend.
Funds provided will go directly to support Sherita and Joeanna, for the financial costs of the funeral and memorial services, and to support them in the coming months as they move on with their lives. Any support is appreciated.
