Support for Sidney Chadwell’s Stroke Recovery

Hello everyone! On behalf of our father Sidney, Jordan and Lexie Chadwell are starting this GoFundMe in hopes of support from family and friends. We have been delaying this as long as possible, but with rising cost we feel like the time has come. On the morning of October 3, 2022 our father Sidney Chadwell suffered a severe stroke at the young age of 51. Beginning in 2011 he suffered a series of mini strokes with the recent being his 5th and most damaging. Sidney was admitted in the ICU for 5 days, and stayed in continued hospital care for nearly 3 weeks at St. Thomas Rutherford. From there he transitioned to NHC in McMinnville, TN in early November 2022 for stroke recovery services. We are more than lucky that he is still with us today, however the effects of this stroke have really taken a toll on him. Regrettably he will no longer be the same as before.He has severe paralysis in his left arm and paralysis in his legs. He is now mobile only by wheelchair. Along with paralysis he continues to suffer from aphasia, and his motor skills are extremely weak. He now requires 24/7 care, and is now a foreseeable resident of NHC McMinnville. Sidney had to let go of the home he rented since 2010, and a lot of his personal possessions had to be put in storage or sold to pay for his medical and nursing home expenses. We are very grateful of the support that we have already been given from close family and friends, but the burden of financial bills have officially caught up with us. Sidney will continue to have medical expenses and will need special care including visits to specialist and physical/occupational therapy to ensure he is getting the care he needs. On a good note Sidney has come a long way since October 3rd! The nurses and staff at NHC love him and he is adored at the nursing home just as he is by all who know him. He pushes himself everyday to make the best of his situation. We are proud of the recovery he has made thus far, but he still has a long road ahead. His two adult children, Jordan and Lexie, reside out of state and his youngest son Camden is only 7 years old. Needless to say this has been a challenging experience for his family due to the limits of assistance we can give him.
