December 31st was just a normal day for Sissy as she was working at the church and helping people in the community in need. (Which we all know Sissy loves to help so many!) Then as she and Rick headed home he noticed she was slow to get into the car and asked her if she was ok. She expressed feeling tired and muscle weakness.

January 1st the pain progressed rapidly and she was very slow in speaking, unable to use her right arm and when trying to walk she was dragging her right leg. Kym Coldiron(daughter) and her daughter Isabella(granddaughter) picked up Sissy and Rick and took Sissy  to ER at Mercy. Then after few tests they quickly discovered bleeding on her brain (subdural hematoma).

January 2  she was taken to surgery to remove the blood on her brain and placed in ICU.
She had animal visitors in ICU!(awesome medicine for patients)

January 7th
Sissy was transferred to Mercy Therapy and was able to speak and had began to have much improved  movement on her right side. January 10th, three days later, she displayed symptoms she had never had. Suddenly she  could not speak,  her face looked paralyzed and now had no control of her arm. (Stroke like symptoms: Not able to speak or write, right sided facial drooping, unable to stick her tongue out, floppy arm.)
Our family immediately recognized the drastic changes and urged the facility doctors to take action. She was quickly taken to Mercy ER by ambulance.
After several tests the doctors felt her condition was stable for her to return to the rehabilitation center. Our family continued to consult with other doctors as we were very concerned with her continuing concerning symptoms.

January 11th her symptoms were not improving causing another ambulance to Mercy ER and our family demanding answers from the doctors. After 10 hours in the ER and still no definite answers Sissy was returned to the rehab facility.

January 12th , Saturday the weekend  doctor at the rehab facility that was covering for the weekend was an extremely positive blessing that we all had been praying for. He came to check on our mother and quickly recognized her concerning symptoms and worked to try to help her.  In addition, we reached out to a long time family friend ,who is also a doctor, in hope for suggestions or answers. Our friend was a true blessing to help us as he consulted with other needed doctors that were then able to get Sissy readmitted to the hospital for more critical evaluation.

January 13th Sissy was readmitted to Mercy. The doctors are running numerous tests and working aggressively to figure out what caused this change. She has already began to improve and we know GOD will continue to heal this amazing woman.

As Sissy is now approaching two weeks in the hospitals, two ambulance rides, two ER visits, cat scans, MRIs, Therapy facility. The next step will be for her to be realeased to a specialized Neurological Rehabilitation Facility after Mercy hospital is able to get her stabilized.  We expect her to stay at the facility for 2-3 weeks (but could be longer if recovery and therapy is slow). Sissy still has a long road to recovery and we want to help with the costs so she stays focused on her health and recovery.
