Support for Soon Dong Hwang's Funeral Expenses

Hello, my name is Danny,

I'm deeply saddened to share that on the morning of November 7th, my father, Soon Dong Hwang, suddenly suffered a heart attack. Despite the tireless efforts of EMTs and FDNY, who performed CPR for 10 minutes and were able to give him a faint pulse, my father was transferred to NYU Hospital in Brooklyn. Surrounded by his loving family, he peacefully passed away with a smile.

My dad was a true fighter. In 2021, he overcame stomach cancer after enduring several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery to remove his stomach. His victory against cancer came after a long and difficult battle, but the toll it took on his body left him struggling with mobility and severe weight loss. Through it all, my mom was his unwavering support, helping him with everything—from walking to carrying him up and down stairs.

We are a close-knit family of five—my two sisters, myself, and our parents. My dad was not only my hero, but he was my biggest supporter, encouraging me to pursue my dreams even when he was enduring his own health challenges. His smile was his greatest gift to us, a constant reminder to face life’s challenges with courage.

With most of our extended family living in South Korea, the support of our immediate family in NYC has been our strength. The pain we're feeling right now is indescribable, especially for my mom, who will now face the heartbreaking reality that November 30th, 2024, would have marked their 40th wedding anniversary.
