Happy May Day friends!
Normally. today would be the day that we celebrate May Day, a worldwide celebration of the historic power of the working class to oppose its oppression and fundamentally alter society with a unified demand for a better world, as well as celebrate our 11th anniversary of "Sticking it to the Man" by offering free acupuncture all day. Unfortunately, 2020 had different plans for us. So, instead, today, we are asking you for your support. As an added bonus, the first $500 raised will be matched by the #SmallBusinessRelief Fund!
As most of you know, due to Covid-19, like so many others, we have had to close our doors. We have been closed since March 16 and, as of now, have no definitive re-opening date. As a social business, we have always valued affordability and accessibility over profitability, and have never turned anyone away due to inability to pay. Since we also do not receive grants or funding of any kind, and exist solely because people pay for their treatments, this means that we operate with tight margins under normal circumstances, and are struggling to keep up with expenses under these extraordinary circumstances.
We love this wonderful community and plan on being of service here for many years to come. It breaks our hearts to not be available for you right now, but we know we made the right decision to close and help flatten the curve. Unfortunately help for small businesses and individuals has not been a priority for the people in charge. While that is unfortunate, it is also not surprising. It is you, the members of this amazing community, who have kept us going for all these years, so it is only fitting that it will be you who ensures that we will continue to serve this community for the years to come.
We have been extremely grateful for the outpouring of generosity we have received so far. We know times are hard for everyone and hate to add to that burden in any way, but if you can help us out even a little, it will mean the world to us. Thank you!
