Support for Steven Lindseth Family

I’m Mellanie Kopec, friend to Brenda Lindseth…

On Monday, February 26, 2024 everything changed for the Lindseth family. Steven Lindseth (age 52) husband to Brenda and father to Cassidy (Madison) and Colby, grandfather to Elijah walked into emergency after being sick with what he thought was a cold for a couple weeks.

Steven’s breathing had become increasingly difficult and he had been feeling extremely tired. Upon arriving at Red Deer Regional Hospital, Steven was immediately taken back to the Trauma room. His heart rate was extremely high. He was taken to CT and given an ultrasound of his heart to find out he had two blood clots. After being given medicine to help dissolve the clots, his blood pressure dropped to dangerous levels. From there he was intubated and transferred by STARS to the Mazankowski Heart Institute at the U of A Hospital. Steven has undergone three heart surgeries, been placed on ECMO life support for his heart and lungs to rest while doctors work hard to give him the best possible care. As well, he is now on dialysis to help his kidneys function and will be having a CT today to monitor his brain function.

As you can imagine this has been an absolute shock to their family. Steven had no history of heart problems and never took a sick day in 14 years of working. Brenda is currently on leave from work due to her own health concerns and so I’m starting this GoFundMe to hopefully be able to assist her and her family with expenses that will come up from having to be at his side in Edmonton for what can be months, with no source of income.

We are thankful to everyone who has been keeping them in their prayers. God has been faithful; Steven is still with us. But we are asking for continued prayers for the team of doctors and nurses who are by his side constantly, for peace for his family as they navigate this and “wait”, and that each day there will be positive answers to prayer…..and of course that ultimately Steven makes a full recovery and returns home to his family.
