Support for Struggling Canadians #WhyChallenge
Donation protected
Here’s the problem:
Poverty in Canada is growing rapidly.
Reports suggest 10,000,000 Canadians are living below the poverty line.
Cobourg, Ontario, a town of 20,000 recently founded 310 Division St Emergency Shelter serving as a critical resource. This local data reflects a growing trend seen in cities across Canada, offering a stark example of the increasing demand for support services in communities nationwide.
January 2025 - 27 people on average used this shelter daily. 136 unique users used this shelter with 82 of them homeless more than 6 months. This one facility cost local government an estimated $4million in addition to $2,700,000 annual operating cost. For 27 people on average. Similar as data from the jail systems.
This isn’t just a government issue—it’s a community issue. Real change starts with us.
The goal of #WhyChallenge — launched by Loren Nelson of Commhelpp Inc — is to help all struggling Canadians unite, build communities within communities and support one another when support is needed. Especially with times of uncertainty with American neighbours.
We have an opportunity to come together to support our neighbours in this critical time of need.
Here's our story and how you can help:
Hi, I’m Loren—a regular guy who saw a real need for mental and financial support in Canada, which led me to start Commhelpp Inc.
At CommHelpp, we are dedicated to creating a network where anyone can ask, offer, and help. We are raising funds to support those in need. Our mission is to empower individuals and businesses emotionally and financially, providing the resources, guidance, and tools necessary to break free from cycles of poverty and instability. Through this program, we foster growth, collaboration, and lasting change.
Your donation directly supports individuals in our Community, providing crucial financial help when they need it most. Every contribution brings us closer to creating lasting change for those overlooked, giving them the opportunity to rebuild. 100% of donations go to those in need, and our mentorship program ensures every dollar is used effectively to improve lives. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
So what's the challenge?
Local Business Packages – If you own or run a business, consider creating a special package or experience to donate. This could be anything from a gift card to a fun local experience to generate funds through your business for the cause.
1. Donate: 100% of every dollar you donate directly supports individuals in need through our mentorship program, with CommHelpp covering processing fees and administration costs. We focus on providing tools and resources that help people rebuild sustainable lives, not just emergency supplies. Mentorship ensures every dollar has a lasting impact.
2. Challenge 1 friend: Once you donate, tag a friend and challenge them to contribute. Together, we can expand the impact and help even more people.
3. Share your story: Share why you chose to support this cause and why you think these problems exist in our society, whether it's through social media or by word of mouth. Use #WhyChallenge to spread the word and encourage others to join.
Can't financially donate? Other ways to support:

2. Share your story: Share why you chose to support this cause and why you think these problems exist in our society, whether it's through social media or by word of mouth. Use the hashtag #WhyChallenge to spread the word and encourage others to join.
Community Organizations
Here's who we would love to join our networks already doing plenty of work in communities who can always use more support and networks:
- Churches
- Foodbanks
- Local emergency shelters across Canada
- Other non profit, charitable organizations
If you are a part of any of these organizations email Commhelpp to have your organization join the network and/or receive funds to go towards those in need in your community
