Support for Tank's Unexpected Eye Removal Surgery
Donation protected
Hey guys, we’ve had a very unfortunate time as of late with Tank, our sweet 3 year old boy, resulting in the loss of his left eye.
About 3 weeks
ago he woke up with a swollen eye and after a couple days he was taken to Redwood Animal Clinic in Santa Rosa, CA. We were told he had scratched or poked his eye and they couldn’t find any foreign objects and sent him home with some eye drops and an ointment.
A few days later his eye had worsened. He was taken back for another visit to Redwood Animal Clinic, where we were told it had developed into an ulcer, but there was no discoloration of the lens at that time. We were prescribed more eye drops and poor Tank was having different medicines dropped in his eye every two hours on top of taking pain medication.
Unfortunately, the prescribed eye drops would do nothing to help his eye as it only worsened over the following days and became very discolored. We were recommended to an animal eye doctor at All Animal Eye Care in Santa Rosa CA.
We had a visit to the eye doctor and we were met with sad news after running some tests on the eyeball. Tank had lost all vision in the eye and it had also become infected and needed to come out. His infection had also spread into his bloodstream.
We scheduled surgery for a week later, and his eye had become so much worse we had to move his surgery date up and he actually had his eye removed today, 5/15/2024. He is home resting currently. The operation was performed at All Animal Eye Care by Dr. Neuman
This was a freak accident that nobody could have planned for, and it unfortunately wound up worse case scenario. The many visits to different vets / animal doctors , medications , surgery, special request items, and missing time from work have added up very quickly and we are hoping to get a little help covering some of these costs. In total it has been over $5,000 so far and there will be follow-ups over the next few weeks.
We are beyond grateful for any donations, as well as sharing this fundraiser with others. I know everyone has their problems, thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider our GoFundMe.
