Support for Taryn and Cindy Marquez

This fundraiser is in support of my dear friends Taryn and Cindy Marquez. Taryn is currently at Tampa General Hospital recovering from Covid.

Taryn became ill with bronchitis around August 12th, was admitted to the hospital on August 18th with pneumonia, and tested positive for Covid. She spent 3 weeks on a ventilator and her prognosis was so dire that her family feared losing her. Taryn is extremely immunocompromised due to a number of preexisting medical conditions so her case was the worst imaginable and she wasn’t expected to make it.

By the grace of God, Taryn has miraculously started to improve and was transferred from ICU to the Pulmonary Care Unit this week. She is finally awake and was taken off the ventilator a few days ago and is just receiving supplemental oxygen with a tracheostomy. She has started to speak a little, but she still can’t move or eat and is receiving nutrition through a G-Tube.

She has a very, very long road ahead to recovery and is receiving intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy. Covid ravaged her lungs and she will sadly endure breathing problems and damage to her internal organs for the rest of her life.

Obviously Taryn hasn’t worked since the start of this and there is no telling when she will be able to return to work, creating a vast financial hardship, not to mention the insurance bureaucracy that will leave her with extensive medical bills.

Cindy has taken a leave from work to be by Taryn’s side, is working on gaining temporary guardianship of her through the courts and is managing her affairs.

These girls have been through an unfair amount of trauma the last couple of years, having just lost their mother March 1, 2020. They also care for their father who has early stage dementia.
