Support for Teachers/Staff - MeritArlington
Donation protected
We are a group of parents that want to come together to raise money for the teachers and staff at Merit Arlington. Because so many families are no longer bringing their kids to daycare, many teacher's can no longer get as many hours/week.
Here's what's happening (Scroll to FAQs below, too):
1. Merit Arlington is trying to make sure every teacher/staff can get to at minimum 5 hours/day, if they want it. This is a reduction in pay for many of our beloved teachers and staff. They can only do this if families pay the emergency/vacation rate or full rate. If you're still receiving your same salary consider remaining at least at a emergency/vacation rate.
2. But that's still less pay for the teachers and staff. If you're paying half-rate, consider donating some to this GoFundMe, so that teachers and staff can receive the money directly.
3. If you've un-enrolled your kid(s) already, and still have a paycheck, consider donating to this GoFundMe, so that teachers and staff can receive the money directly.
The goal is to raise enough money for each staff/teacher $100/week for the next 3 weeks, at least. There are just about 20 teachers and staff. See FAQs below!

FAQ:
1. Our family is still paying full tuition, should I donate to this? Up to you (and yes please!). By paying your full tuition, you're still helping teachers to earn their hours for school -- however, note that if less students go each day, then hours could still be cut.
2. Our family is paying half tuition, should I donate to this? Up to you (and yes please!). By paying half tuition, you're still helping teachers to earn their hours for school, and based on the recent note from Merit, can also have it applied back when you return to full time. Regardless, if less students go each day, then hours could still be cut. Merit Arlington is working to make sure every teacher/staff can get to at minimum 5 hours/day, if they want it.
3. If we are paying tuition, do teachers/staff get paid? No. Most teachers/staff are hourly, so if they don't have the hours, they are not getting paid -- even if you pay the tuition (half or full).
4. My family has been impacted and we can't donate, is that okay? Absolutely. We are trying to help where we can and if you're unable to contribute, don't give it a second thought. Really.
5. Will this money go directly to teachers/staff or thru Merit Arlington? Money will go directly to teachers/staff thru PayPal, Venmo, giftcards or TBD. We will track the money diligently and start to get money out the door quickly. *Note, if you donate and are asked to cover transaction fees -- please try to cover them so more of you donation goes to teachers. GoFundMe takes a very small cut (A standard transaction fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 per donation allows for credit card processing and safe transfer of funds. See how it works here.)
6. How will you decide how much each teacher/staff gets? We will distribute evenly and plan to pull money out as it comes in -- or at some consistent rate so we can keep sending money as quickly as possible.
