Support for the Bailey Family's Funeral Costs

Donation protected
Our beloved Gail and Joseph Bailey were tragically killed and taken from our family on the eve of 6/18/2024. Due to the sudden nature of these events this has displaced their son, his wife and his small children (ages 7, 10, 13) who were living with them at the time. Their grandparents were very involved in their lives and loved them very much. Grandpa Blue loved cooking breakfast every morning, and Grandma/Mugga would spoil them with gifts, rides to their friends' houses, and attended every extracurricular event. They were not just grandparents but second parents to their grandchildren. These children haven’t just lost their home, but they’ve lost their family and have been ripped out of their lives and everything they know. In the wake of this devastating loss, we are reaching out to the community for support. These funds will go directly towards their family, and additional funeral and legal costs due to the nature of this tragedy. Your generosity will also ensure that our family and their grandchildren can continue to receive the financial support they need to maintain some sort of stability in their lives. Any amount you can contribute will be appreciated, The Bailey family is grateful for the kindness and support during this difficult time. Words can’t express how much we all miss them. Especially Blue’s awkward hugs, and Mugga’s ear wrenching birthday songs. They were two of the most loving and generous people we’ve ever known.

Gail Lynn Bailey, 69, of Washington, Utah, died on 6/18/24.
Born in Edmonds, WA, in 1954 to Glenn and Barbara, Gail was the most middle of middle children, sandwiched between two brothers, Mike and Dave, and two sisters, Jenny and Teresa. Gail attended Granite Falls High School and shortly after graduating met the man that would become her lifelong love, father to her children, and primary target of her sharp verbal barbs.
She was a mother of infinite patience - right up until she wasn’t. Grace was never her middle name and telling her to calm down was an act of reverse psychology guaranteed to add fuel to the fire. Gail loved her pranks, loved teasing and being teased, gave as good as she got, and was the single worst singer in the history of humankind. Birthday songs from Gail were a punishment of her love that everyone received and couldn’t be ignored or avoided. She spoiled her grandchildren rotten, smothered her family with love, and raised her hellion children solo for weeks and months while her husband sailed the seven seas.

Gail was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, her father, and passed alongside her lifelong partner and husband, Joe. She is survived by four children and eight grandchildren.

Joseph Anthony “Blue” Bailey, 70, of Washington, UT, died on 6/18/24.
Born in San Francisco, CA, in 1954 to William Bailey and Beverly Titus. Blue graduated from the school of Hard Knocks and spent much of his youth living between foster homes and with a grandmother he called the “second meanest woman in the world.” After emancipation at the age of 16, Blue bootstrapped himself to a career as a maritime engineer, becoming one of the most well-known and well-respected men in his field. At a young age he met the mother of his children, the bane of his existence and the woman of his dreams (probably?), and spent the rest of his days dedicated to being the father that he never had, the provider of infinite love, a cliff upon which no sea or earthly force could break and a glowing beacon in the murkiest of ocean storms – of which he sailed often.
Master of the Thousand-Yard Stare, Blue could cut a more contemplative figure than the Thinking Man. A true hot-rodder in all ways, he restored, modified, sold, traded and bought more old Chevy’s than a dealership, except for a brief mid-life crisis that ended in him choosing No Car over Mopar – until he bought another Chevy.
Blue is survived by four children and eight grandchildren who loved him almost as much as he loved them – for there is no powerful and enduring love than that of a father like Blue.
