Support for the Bunting family
Donation protected
My name is Kaylyn Schulman, I am a longtime friend of the Bunting family. This family is near and dear to my heart and I’d like to ask all friends and family to come together and support Lynne and Shelby in caring for Steve as he continues on his journey through Hospice.
Beginning in April 2023 Steve started to experience memory loss, loss of physical coordination and symptom's that were eerily similar to dementia. Unfortunately, his symptoms progressed rapidly. During this period of time Shelby and Lynne worked tirelessly to find answers. Shelby moved her family back home to Newberry to help her mom and take Steve to his doctors appointments and clinics. Initially they thought Steve had suffered a stroke, however, after months of testing and the continual decline of Steve’s health they were finally given the devastating news that Steve was suffering from a degenerative brain disorder called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. CJD is an extremely rare disease, and there is no effective treatment at this time. The progression of this disease has caused Steve to become completely dependent on his wife Lynne and his daughter Shelby to help him with all his basic needs. Together they have been working tirelessly as Steve is home on Hospice.
At this time it would be wonderful if we could come together and help alleviate some of the financial strain on Lynne, as she has taken a leave from work so she can focus on caring for Steve as he enters the end stages of life.
