Support For the Children of Monie Gittens

Thank you to all those who joined us on Monie’s (Shi’Ana Gittens) Honor Walk on Friday, January 26th, 2024, at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. Hundreds of you showed up and our family felt the love, Thank you!

As many of you are aware, my sister Monie’s life was stolen through an act of domestic violence by her kid’s dad. She leaves 4 beautiful children, 3 sons and 1 daughter – ages 9, 5, 2 and a 4-week-old born on January 4th of this year.

Many of you have reached out offering support and contributions - we greatly appreciate your love for Monie and her children and we wanted to give you a place to tangibly show your love as many of you have requested.

Monie was a mom of moms to her children. She was loving, attentive and intentional about structuring her home in a way to maximize the success of her highest priority – her babies. She had her children up 2 hours before school each day. They meditated together, she made sure they had a home cooked meal each day and she worked hard to give them everything that she could.

Light, positivity and encouragement surrounded Monie, her home and her children – Motherhood was her life, and she wore it proudly and well.

My family and I need your support as we take care of our sister Monie and her children. They are innocent in this, and we want to give them every advantage to overcome and be more than what this travesty dictates. They deserve to realize their dreams as they continue in life without their mother, my sister and our parents’ daughter.

While there are long term needs that my niece and nephews have with the loss of their mother – there are some immediate needs.

While my sister, Monie, was fighting for her life in the hospital, her home was vandalized, and many items were stolen – important and familiar items.

We are at a loss for words about what we’re experiencing as her family, but as this hits her children and reverberates throughout the rest of their lives - there are no number of words to express the impact and need they will have.

We’re asking you to partner with us and give what you can. Monetary donations are best at this time.

No donation is too small, and no donation is too great – my sisters’ children need their personal items to be replaced, they need their immediate needs to be addressed and they need their future to be secured.
