Matt, Lisa & Clyde Cowan Need Us!
Donation protected
Matt, Lisa and Clyde are so very loved by all of us and they are going through a tremendously trying time in their lives. As the Cowan Support Crew, we are all reaching out to the community to help.
On October 27th Matt received his 2nd diagnosis of colon cancer. He had an initial surgery two weeks later for a full colectomy. Several days after surgery some complications presented and his hospital stay was extended. The entire family was so thrilled when he was finally able to be discharged and they could celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday together and recover from this unexpected illness.
Unfortunately Matt was home for just a little over a week before things took a turn and he became violently ill. Lisa rushed him to the emergency room and Matt was immediately admitted to the cardiovascular unit due to a soaring heart rate. Thankfully the hospital kept him in for monitoring because on December 9th Matt developed sepsis due to multiple bowel perforations and ulcers. The next 72 hours in the ICU were extremely critical and Matt was intubated while undergoing two emergency surgeries. Matt was eventually able to be weaned from the ventilator and is now considered stable, however, he remains in intensive care. He continues to experience complications and he and the family have spent Christmas and the entire winter holiday season in the ICU. While we do not have a discharge date, we will keep everyone updated here!
The road to recovery is a long one, but together we can support our friends and take some of the enormous financial burden off of them. Lisa is self employed and Matt is a union worker in Chapter 484. He was unable to begin work on Fear of the Walking Dead which means that along with mounting medical bills they have both been effectively unemployed since mid-November. Matt and Lisa have demonstrated an inspiring level of strength, dedication, and love for one another throughout this ordeal. While they are reluctant to ask for support, they also recognize that their friends want to help them and that relieving the financial burden from this process will create space for Matt to heal more quickly and for Lisa to continue to support him throughout that process.
The Support Crew would appreciate any donations and all proceeds will go directly to Matt, Lisa and Clyde. We will update on this page as things progress. <3
