Support for the Dabene Family

Dave and Pam’s love story is one for the ages. They met when they were 14 years old on the first day of Grade 9. Dave said he couldn’t take his eyes off the beautiful blonde in the front row. Pam remembers a big creepy dude staring at her. :)

He walked her home that day and they shared a quick kiss on the front porch - that was that. They got married at 19 and loved each other fiercely over the following 31 years. It wasn’t always easy; they had their trials and tribulations, joy and sorrow, laughter and tears. But they persevered and knew that they could make it through anything life threw their way, as long as they were together.

Now, after seeing three boys grown, daughter-in-laws joining the family, one 3 year old grandson and two more grand-babies on the way*, they were in family bliss.

Devastatingly, on September 20th, Dave passed away suddenly having suffered a heart attack in his sleep. He was only 51 years old.

They kept saying “Eventually”; everything would be taken care of “Eventually”. But now Pam is on her own, navigating being a widow at 51 and trying to understand how to move forward without him.

Especially worried about how she will be able to take care of Kevin, their 29 year old special needs son who is double diagnosed with severe Down Syndrome and Autism as well as suffering from epilepsy. He is non-verbal, wears diapers and can be very aggressive towards Pam. He is too much for her to handle on her own.

Also worried about finances. Dave did not have a will and they struggled financially.

How is Pam going to pay for all the required arrangements for Dave’s cremation and burial?

She knows she needs to sell the house, but how will she be able to afford all the repairs and work needed to get it market ready? The waiting list for support for Kevin is in the thousands. How do we get him and Pam the support they so desperately need?

I’m Pam’s sister, and I am asking for your help. Please support my sister and her family through this heartbreaking time.
