Hello everyone, Joshmyn and Jullianne here. It is with pure sadness that I'm announcing my dear and loved father, Eduardo De La Cruz, passed away suddenly on July 17, 2024. His sudden passing has shattered our world and surprised everyone around us. He is survived by his beloved wife Eva Isidoro and two daughters, Joshmyn (right) and Jullianne (left) De La Cruz.
My papa was purehearted, devoted to providing for his family, and only desired the happiness of others. As a migrant from the Philippines, he made so many sacrifices for our family which we are all so eternally grateful for. Beyond our family, he was deeply involved in our community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a God-fearing, God-loving person and was driven by his Faith.
Some of my favorite memories of him are how much he loved Rock and Roll. On the weekends, he would play his favorite classical hits on the radio while he tended his garden. He grew all sorts of things -- from tomatoes, eggplants, strawberries -- and loved to share his overflowing abundance and blessings with others. During his retirement, he loved going on walks on the beach or strawberry fields next to our house, fishing at the Hueneme beach, or going to local music and food festivals with family and friends. He loved capturing his experiences on video and sharing them with close ones online. One of my fondest memories of him was his Canon camera. He loved capturing precious moments of his children, wife, family, and friends. It is through him that my family will be able to relive those moments and cherish these sweet memories. He was the kind of person who expressed his love through acts of service and gift giving, especially with food. I remember how much he loved going to Costco and if you ever told him you liked a certain snack, he would buy it for you every time without ever asking. My dad always made sure everyone's tummies were full, and was always willing and actively wanted to share his blessing with others.
For the past few months, my dad had been dealing with a prostate abnormality. He was stressed out that he might have cancer, and started eating healthy and learning about nutrition. He learned about lycopene in tomatoes, and started eating so much of them. My sister and dad ate healthy together, and we were all so proud of him. He did another blood test, saw his numbers improve and was so, so happy. The day before he passed, he had a biopsy done, and when the results for anything cancerous came back negative he was so incredibly happy and relieved. My dad was healthy and excited to keep living. He was supposed to live a really long, long time. He wasn't supposed to leave us yet, but he did and it's destroyed us, especially our mom.
My dad was the provider of our family and his sudden passing has left us all in shambles, especially my mother. As we process our grief, it is hard not to think about the looming financial burden of the funeral service and memorials. We are asking for $30,000 to ease this financial burden off my sister, mother, and I. This money will help cover the funeral expenses and will allow us to primarily focus on our grief and healing as we move through this incredibly tough period in our lives. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and we love you all dearly.
With the deepest and most profound love,
The De La Cruz Family
