The Brown family is the kind of family you'd want as neighbors – active, community-minded and always quick to lend a hand.

For decades, this family has been a blessing to the City of Richmond – supporting its public schools, constructing bike paths to improve city parks, and being fitness role models and training partners for athletic endeavors of all kinds.

Now this family could use your support.

A tragic loss

On June 29, Aaron Brown – Winnie’s husband and father to Alex (20) and Carter (17) – died suddenly as a result of an epileptic seizure.

Aaron was diagnosed with epilepsy in August of 2016 and, while he faced it with courage and conviction, his disability put nearly a decade of financial strain on the Brown household.

How you can help

In the wake of Aaron’s sudden death, the Brown family now faces new concerns, especially about its ability to fund and support the educational dreams of daughter Alex and son Carter. Carter, a rising senior at Franklin Military Academy, currently works as a lifeguard at a City pool. Alex (a rising junior at Virginia Commonwealth University) has earned dean's list recognition every semester, volunteers as an EMT at Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue and currently is employed as a patient care technician at VCU in the Cardiology Department. She aspires to attend Duke University School of Medicine to earn a Physician Assistant (PA) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
