Support for the Geer Family

On November 21st my mom, Gail, was admitted to the hospital in kidney failure. She lost one kidney and had a 90% blockage to her only working kidney. On Thanksgiving while coming to visit my mom at the hospital my dad, Donald, collapsed from a heart attack.
Doctors were able to place a stent in my mom’s right renal artery to return blood flow. My dad’s heart was too damaged to fully repair and he was not a candidate for bypass surgery. They both spent over a week in the hospital.
After being home for only a week my dad had another stroke and is now paralyzed on his right side. He has totally blocked arteries in his brain and his heart and we have had to make the difficult decision to start hospice.
My mom is out of leave time at work and is still recovering from her own health concerns. My dad can’t be left alone and needs around the clock care. After my dad’s last stroke in May of 2022, he has been unable to work and still waiting on disability to be approved. My mom’s job has been the main source of income for them and now they don’t have that.
