UPDATED - Support for J'Adore Detroit team needed

As you may or may not have heard, there was an issue with the building that housed several incredible businesses in Eastern Market, including the beautiful J'adore Detroit loft + the offices of Brooklyn Outdoor. This unforeseen issue resulted in the collapse of the entire side of the building on Saturday, September 16th. Thankfully, there were no clients or team members in the building when the incident occurred and the entire team is safe.

The J'adore Detroit + Brooklyn Outdoor teams recently received the devastating news of a looming emergency demolition set for the building by the city of Detroit. Still recovering and recouping from the COVID shut down, the loft at j’adore Detroit was slated to be busier than ever in the coming months thanks to the hard work and dedication of both Lauren and Heather Van Haaren. To see that come to a halt is a blow that couldn’t be expected.

Over the past week, the outpouring of love for the space and staff members has been incredible, and many of you have asked how to support them in these uncertain times. The loft at J'adore Detroit was not only a beautifully curated event venue, but also a place that hosted some of the most important moments and most beautiful memories for so many. While the future of the building and j’adore Detroit is uncertain, we wanted to try to help alleviate some of the financial strain that will impact the company and the team as they navigate the next several months. Now that there is a more clear understanding of what the financial ramifications will be moving forward and what insurance will and will not cover, there is a much larger ask in place from the community. Along with a portion of product sales on the website, a portion of the proceeds from the go fund me will go directly to the j’adore Detroit staff members to help alleviate financial strain from some of the unforeseen loss in commissions and wages and the remainder to j’adore Detroit as they attempt to recoup the losses from the devastation and move forward - whatever that may look like.
