Support for the Kerr-Santos Family’s Cancer Battle
Itamar Santos and Cheryl Kerr’s 10 year old son Gabriel was diagnosed with osteosarcoma last summer, after a visit to the pediatrician to discuss what they thought were growing pains in his leg. This active family of five was stunned by this diagnosis, and immediately embarked on a grueling treatment plan that included chemotherapy and surgeries to remove part of Gabe’s fibula and cancerous lesions on his lungs. Gabe, with his ready smile and big brown eyes, bravely persevered through the nausea, pain, and physical therapy with his loving family by his side.
As the Kerr-Santos family finally nears the end of Gabe’s cancer treatment, one of the hardest parts may just be beginning.
Seven months of intensive and exhausting medical interventions have taken a physical, emotional, and financial toll on them all. With the new year come new insurance deductibles, out-of-pocket therapy expenses, and the extensive work of rebuilding their lives and discovering their new normal.
While they have stoically pushed on through the trauma of the last year, Cheryl and Itamar have now consented - with immense gratitude - to the creation of this fund.
Their needs are many, their faith is strong, and their appreciation for the love and support shown by the community is immeasurable.
Please join us in this next phase of support for this beloved Dedham family.
Thank you for your generosity.
