On October 11th Troy hit his head on the boards at hockey, he got a few stitches in the ER that night and was told he had a concussion. Throughout the week Troy was having intense headaches but was able to work and function as usual. On the evening of Sunday Oct. 18th Troy quickly became very sick. Him and his family were about 40 minutes from town when Troy suddenly started vomiting, lost his speech, had a seizure and collapsed. There was no cell service where they were so Simoy and their two daughters loaded Troy up and raced to the hospital calling Bill (Troys dad) on the way there to meet them and take the girls so they didn't need to witness anymore than they already had. On the drive into town Troy seized again, and once more in the parking lot of the Emergency room. As we can all imagine this was such a traumatic experience for Simoy, the girls and Bill.
When they arrived at GR Baker Hospital they gave him a CT scan which showed a massive brain bleed. Late that night Troy was airlifted to Vancouver and upon arrival they operated on his brain to release pressure and remove some of the blood. Troy is currently intubated and in an induced coma in the ICU at Vancouver General Hospital. We are all taking things one day at a time. What the future brings at this point is very unknown. Troys wife (Simoy), his mom and uncle (Shirley and George) , dad and step mom (Bill and Gena) all went down to Vancouver. Shirley Simoy and Bill have briefly all been able to see Troy . Unfortunately due to COVID-19 they will only allow 1 visitor per day in the ICU. Our entire family is taking things one day at a time, Simoy is staying in Vancouver to be by Troy's side, while the girls are staying with Auntie and Uncle Marc back home.
Troy owns his own business as a plumber and is the sole provider for their family. As you can imagine the costs everyday right now are piling up. Regular bills continue to come while adding the costs of accommodation, travel and food in Vancouver. We don't even know what medical expenses will look like at this time. Simoy is already is dealing with so much, please help us take some of the financial stress off of her/them as they go through this horrible and devastating time.
Simoy and family have been overwhelmed with the amount of love and support everyone has given. You are all absolutely lovely, please continue to pray for Troy and family though this difficult time.
If you would like to support/help Simoy, Troy and their girls in another way or would prefer send money directly please contact me via text at 250-255-5960.
Sincerely,
Lisa Boudreau
