Support for The Menchaca Family
Sarah is our neighbor and friend. She’s a mom. A partner. A daughter. You know someone like her. She’s such a thoughtful person. She leaves surprises on your doorstep - something she made or bought because she just happened to be thinking of you. She and her husband Mario have raised an amazing daughter together who makes us laugh and is a wonderful friend to our kids.
And Sarah is sick. There’s no way around it, her prognosis is not good. She, as is her nature, is fighting. It’s an aggressive cancer and her doctors say, with treatment, she has another year and a half left.
Sarah is a pharmacy technician. She had recently switched jobs and her new employer is denying her benefits and healthcare coverage. The best they can offer is that her job is waiting for her, should she “get better.”
Imagine what that’s like. On top of facing your own mortality. On top of a family sore with worry and grief. On top of the sickness that comes with treatment. On top of all of that…Sarah has to worry about finances and whether she’ll get the right treatment to give her the best shot at staying with us as long as possible.
If you can imagine being in that situation, please help us help our friend. Over the next several months of doctor’s appointments and cancer treatments, we want to help ease her financial burden. We want to help pay medical bills. We want to buy groceries and cook meals and help her get her daughter ready for the school year. We want to ease her mind just a little so she can spend the time she has with the people she loves.
