Support for the Mother and Family of Ryan Kim

Donation protected
Ryan and his family--particularly his mother--have just witnessed some of the worst of humanity. Let's show them that there's more good to humanity than there is bad--let's show them there is more light at the end of the tunnel than there is darkness.

The following was posted to Facebook by Ryan:

"My mom was assaulted today.

She was pushed aside, thrown to the ground, punched and kicked just for asking a customer to pay after their service was complete, because they were about to run away without paying.

It makes me sad that there are still people out there who try to scam businesses like this and resort to violence. I've always told my mom to avoid confrontation but because of how hard COVID hit small businesses she can't afford to just let everyone go. I was unfortunately away when it happened and couldn't stop it.

It makes me sad that when the police arrived, they just stood around, mocked and yelled at me for being upset and just left me a business card and left, seemingly not wanting to do anything because the suspect ran away.

It makes me sad that when the paramedics arrived, the first thing that came out of my mom's mouth was "who's going to pay for the ambulance? I'm not going", as she was laying down bloody and bruised.

It makes me sad that we were told to wait a long time (2.5 hours) when we arrived at a hospital to get treated because they were so backed up with other patients, mostly COVID.

I question the dream that people believe they can achieve here. Because so far it's been mostly a nightmare. If you don't think a change is needed you're delusional.

To the random stranger who helped chase the person away and paid the full amount ($209!) of the money we lost, thank you. I wish we would've at least gotten your name.

I don't really post here so I'll spare everyone of all the pictures and story. But I know there are so many people who are also struggling in different ways. My prayers go out to everyone and their family in these difficult times. Stay safe."
