Support for the Ortiz Family After Sergio's Passing

Hello, my name is Erica Meza. I grew up in what I would consider the best neighborhood in our little town. You know, the kind where everyone knows everyone. Where all the adults kept an eye out for the kids riding their bikes or simply playing out in the church parking lot across the street.

Well I had the great privilege of living next to such a great family. The Ortiz'. Their mom became a widow far too soon and was left alone to raise 7 of her babies by herself. This woman was always providing, no matter what. Her youngest son was always at our house. My baby brother and him weren't just best friends but more like siblings.

From being wild boys jumping on top of the chicken coop in our backyard, to peeing outside because going inside the house would take just too long and could cut into their playtime.

Sergio Ortiz was more than just our neighbor, he was family. Such a tiny little boy growing up with his big baggy jeans that he always talked about, because his momma bought those just for him. He was the kindest soul. Such a wonderful little boy, turned exceptional young man and eventually an adult. He died unexpectedly on 10/4/24 while at home.

As you can imagine, no one is ever really ready to lose their loved ones. But him especially, being so young. We are starting this gofundme as a way to help his mom with anything she needs. She's usually one to take up everything on her own without asking for help. But this shouldn't be a burden she needs to deal with.

Sergio had an immense family that loved him so much and is saddened by his sudden departure. We're trying to raise as much as we can to help out but we're also asking for prayers. God knows they are needed in masses.
