Support For The Othen Family Funeral Expenses etc
Donation protected
I am a close friend to the Othen family , have known them 33 years. Go Fund Me is the only thing I could think of doing to help the family out as Covid restrictions have limited so much as of late. We are not able to visit & support Lavone & her girls in person, so I thought this is a way to show our love , support and condolences.
I would like to help this family with support that is needed for Funeral Expenses & other bills & to relieve some of the financial burden for them so they can take some time to grieve this tragedy.
As some of you know Lavone and her husband both tested positive for Covid at the end of October. It is suspected that John, a Calgary Transit Driver for 45 years, picked the virus up while on the job. Lavone was ill but did not require hospitalization, John however did, and was rushed by Ambulance to Foothills Hospital in Calgary . He was in a life threatening condition and remained on a ventilator for 5 weeks and another 2 weeks with multiple issues occurring. John fought hard to recover and was released December 23 just in time to be home for Christmas! We all thought he had beat the Covid & all would be okay.
Last Thursday January 14th John got up in the morning and went and sat in his chair and suddenly took ill.. Lavone did CPR until the Ambulance arrived and John was rushed back to Foothills. He was revived 3 times but when they arrived at the hospital he was put on life support and tests were done which showed John now had brain damage and his lungs were full of fluid. John died that night with his loving wife of 44 years and his 2 cherished daughters Raye-Lynn & Haley by his side.
In closing I would like to add that John Othen was a one of a kind man, a true gentleman, loving, friendly, devoted & generous .He loved his job & brought smiles to many, including his family, his friends, co-workers & his passengers. The outpouring of love, support & condolences by so many , shows how much he touched the lives of the people of Calgary. He will be missed.
If preferred, etransfers for the Othens can be sent , contact organizer Mary Jo Coons for the email address.
John Othens wife Lavone Othen is being added as the beneficiary of the fundraiser,
