Medical Support for Emory Paulin

This fund is being set up by friends and family of Jason and Jen Paulin to help with expenses associated with the care of their daughter, Emory, six.  On August 6th, during a routine check-up prior to Emory entering the 1st grade, a malignant tumor was discovered in her right femur.   She was admitted to VCU Hospital for the next 3 days to undergo tests.  Fortunately, the cancer was shown not to have spread to other parts of her body.  Still, the prescribed course of treatment promises to be long and costly, involving 30 weeks of chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor.  Emory had her first treatment on August 19 and although she experienced nausea, she came through it in her normal spitfire style.  

On August 24th, while playing in the yard, Emory broke her femur.  The tumor’s growth had eaten away at her bone, making it thin and brittle.  She was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she spent the night with her leg in traction, before getting her leg set and cast on the morning of August 25th.  She was able to return home on the 26th and will resume her treatments on September 9th.

This fund is being set up so that Jason and Jen can focus on the care of Emory and her sister, Elena, over what will be a very challenging several month period.  As friends and family, we are committed to ensuring that financial concerns are not something that the Paulins have to focus on during this time.   We are grateful for any assistance that you are able to provide.
