Support for the Schechter Family

This is the Schechter family in Summer 2017 - blissfully ignorant of the terrible turn fate would bring one year later.
The Story:
In February, Steve was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. At first, the outlook was positive. It would be a long treatment process, but all eyes were on recovery. The family thought treatment was going well in May but learned in early June that the cancer was actually untouched and had even spread.
In the early morning hours of June 12, 2018, Stephen Schechter was called home from his family leaving a gaping void in their lives.
Alyssa and Steve had been married for 28 years and were savoring every moment of being parents together. Unable to conceive on their own when they were ready, these two worked for years to become parents, leaving no stone unturned so they could share all their love and enthusiasm with children. Alyssa and Steve were eventually blessed by the adoption of Nathan and Ben, now 12 and 9 years old.
Steve embraced being a dad with every fiber of his being. Perhaps his greatest joy was leading his boys in Boy Scouts, hoping that one day they would both become Eagle Scouts. He was counting the months until he could take the boys to Philmont for a great scouting and family adventure.
Selfless does not begin to describe Steve’s philosophy for living. He always asked others how he could help and what he could do for them, usually causing delays to his own busy schedule to do so. He volunteered at the kids’ school, volunteered in Scouts, volunteered as a soccer coach, AND volunteered at church. He did anything to help others!
How You Can Help:
Now, Steve’s family needs help. Alyssa has spent the last 12 years working as a mom while Steve earned the paycheck. Steve’s illness has emptied the family’s life savings, but the bills keep coming. Alyssa is trying to piece their lives back together and look for work, but in the meantime, bills still must be paid, food must be bought, and a stable home must be maintained.
Please help this family who has lost so much. Alyssa and Steve have given so much to their friends, family, and community. Let’s see if we can return their love with some of our own. Please share their story and this link and let’s help this family survive and thrive.
I know there are tons of choices in how to donate your money, but this family is WORTHY! I can promise you that Alyssa and the boys will PAY IT FORWARD!
Thank you!
