After experiencing discomfort and pain Jay was administered a CT scan on Thursday, October 4th and the following day had a 5.8 cm mass removed and tested for abnormalities. Two weeks later on Friday, October 19th Jay Schnittger was diagnosed with stage two testicular cancer (embryonal carcinoma). The tumor was successfully removed, however, the cancer has now infiltrated the surrounding blood vessels. In order to fight this disease from causing further damage, Jay must undergo chemotherapy. This treatment comes at a physical and financial cost. Chemotherapy is life changing and we want to be there for Jay and his family every step of the way.
Those that know Jay would say that he has a genuine soul, with a pinch of wit, and is a guy you can depend on. He really is an all-around great person with a beautiful wife; Jackie Schnittger, and two charismatic children, Noah (3) and Anna (1).
Jay is currently pursuing his master’s degree in educational leadership and received the unfortunate news of his new health condition two weeks before graduation. His goal is to someday be as an administrator at a high school and continue to inspire students and teachers to pursue their passions.
This arduous journey is one that was unexpected. We ask that friends, family, and colleagues band together to help the Schnittger family during this time of hardship.
