On December 11, 2018 Logan was taken to the local hospital in Fort Collins for breathing difficulties. He was quickly admitted with pneumonia in both lungs and began treatment for sepsis. His health continued to decline and it was clear he needed more specialized care. He was transported on December 12th to Children's Hospital in Denver and admitted into the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit). Not only did Logan have pneumonia in both lungs, he also had what they called a "super" virus and infections in all sinuses. Logan kept declining and within 8 hours had to be intubated and placed on a ventilator. On December 19th he was moved to the pulmonary floor. Logan will eventually get a G-tube, but that surgery keeps getting pushed out until Logan is well enough to handle the anesthesia. As of now Logan will be there until further notice.
Both Jessica and Joe have needed to be by Logan's side during this very difficult time, which means both have been unable to work for almost a month. They had tried to stay at the Ronald McDonald house so the family could be near each other, but were unlawfully refused at the door. This means that Jess and Joe had to either take shifts on staying with their youngest daughter Ainsley at home, which requires driving of almost 200 miles a day, or paying for a hotel in Denver.
This family has not only had to deal with watching their son almost die, they also were unable to be together on the holidays and now will deal with the financial burden of being out of work for at least a month. This family has so much to carry on their shoulders every day, and it has become an even heavier load! Let's come together to support this wonderful family in an extremely difficult time in their life.
