Support for the Sweno Family!

Seven years ago, I found myself with both my husband and baby fighting for their lives. My husband had advanced cancer that was progressing, and my baby had been on dialysis for nearly two years and had already had a liver transplant but still needed a kidney transplant.

My late husband's goal was to live long enough to see his little boy receive both his liver and kidney transplant. As a desperate mother that was trying to find a kidney donor for my baby before time ran out for his father, I turned to Facebook and made my plea asking if there was anyone who had “save a life” on their bucket list because I knew a cute little boy that needed one.

Enter Liz. Liz was a high school classmate of my husband and responded to my Facebook post that day and said that she wanted to be tested.

As it turned out, Liz was a match and she selflessly went through major surgery + recovery and time off of work to donate her kidney to my son.

Last week, Liz and and her husband Rob welcomed beautiful twin boys into the World a bit earlier than expected. Rory and Emmett are doing well but will have a stay in the NICU. Even with insurance, a hospital stay can be quite costly.

Liz helped my baby in the most generous and selfless of ways and I’d love to do what I can to help her babies! I know that Liz and Rob have impacted many people over the years and I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to show them some love and support as they live in the Ronald McDonald house to be close to their babies.
