Support for the Thrash Family in their Time of Grief

My father, Harry Thrash, was an amazing man, the best Daddy a little girl could ever hope for, and the sweetest Pa to his three grandchildren. He possessed a Herculean work ethic, a solid sense of right and wrong, always showed kindness and generosity towards others, and never failed to let those close to him know how much he cared for them - all traits that he instilled into me, for which I’ll be forever grateful.

He’d been valiantly battling prostate cancer for the previous 5 years, quickly burning through a lifetime’s worth of radiation in just a few short months after diagnosis. Then, he proceeded to take every aggressive chemotherapy treatment option they could give him; some cocktails with positive results, others less so when compared to the harsh side effects imparted by them.

Eventually, the inevitable transpired and he had run out of viable treatment options. His care team swiftly made the decision to move him into hospice care, where he spent the final two months with family, friends, and nurses by his side, round the clock, providing all the care and comfort we could. He battled long, fought hard, and gave it everything he had right up until the very end. Valiant fighting, indeed.

I’ll be forever grateful that I was holding his hand as he transitioned from this life into the great beyond. After all, he was there with me when I took my first breaths, and so it seems only fitting that I accompanied him for his final ones.

We are setting up this memorial fund in his honor to help offset his medical costs and final expenses, as well as support the remaining family members through this incredibly heavy season of grief.
