Support for the Vlahakis Family - Jen's Battle with Cancer

Donation protected
In May 2023, Jennifer Vlahakis’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her journey has been marked by resilience, determination, and an unwavering love for her family, but the challenges have been profound.

Jennifer’s diagnosis revealed two distinct types of breast cancer, including the aggressive triple-negative form. We were all hopeful that with chemotherapy and radiation, Jen would win this battle. Despite her bravery and tireless efforts, in September 2023, she felt pain in her neck, and in October 2023 a CT revealed that the cancer had spread to her bones and liver, and the family was informed she was terminal. Shortly thereafter, her medical team estimated she had 12-18 months left. Last week, further scans revealed the cancer has spread to the lining of her brain. Treatments are ongoing, but Jennifer is now nearing the end of her journey, cherishing precious moments with her husband Jordon and their two young daughters, Charlotte, age 9, and Olivia, age 4.

Despite these hurdles, Jen has remained positive and has never stopped fighting. She channeled all her energy into her girls, to ensure their lives felt as ‘normal’ as possible, and getting things organized to ensure that Jordan and her girls would be okay when her time comes.

Throughout this journey, Jen has battled with Cancer Care Ontario to get much-needed coverage for treatments. She is down to her last options for chemotherapy medications, which could provide her with more time with her family. There is one drug that Jen is eligible for, but Cancer Care Ontario will not fund it, and these treatments will cost Jen and her family $15,000 each.

The goal of this fundraiser is to support the family with these challenges. Financial support will ease the burden on Jordon and ensure he has the time and resources to focus on supporting Charlotte and Olivia during this heartbreaking transition.
Your contributions will help:

  • Cover medical treatments and supportive care.
  • Alleviate the immediate financial strain, enabling Jordon to stay home with Charlotte and Olivia during this critical time.
  • Provide stability for the family as they navigate the future together.

Jennifer has always been a source of strength and inspiration, openly sharing her story to raise awareness and encourage others to prioritize and advocate for their health. As her focus shifts to her family, we, as a community, have the opportunity to show our love and support for Jen and her family.

Your generosity will help provide much-needed support to a family facing unimaginable challenges. If you cannot contribute financially, sharing this page with your network and keeping the Vlahakis family in your thoughts means the world to them.
