Support for the Warnes Family

Hello Everybody,
We come to you for the Warnes Family. As many of you know, Mike Warnes passed away on Sunday, March 7th, 2021. Mike was a loving husband to his wife Melanie, and a devoted father to his children: Griffin (20), William (18), Cole (11) and Tristan (8). He was also a standout NCAA college lacrosse defenseman at Ohio Wesleyan University. Mike was a three time All-American, played in three NCAA championships, selected as a two-time captain, and was selected to play in the North-South game his senior year. Upon graduation, Mike was hired to coach as the defensive coordinator for the NCAA Division I Duke University men’s lacrosse program. Mike also spent time coaching and mentoring numerous youth lacrosse players as a travel lacrosse coach with Team 91. Today we are reaching out to the Raleigh-Durham community and the lacrosse community where Mike not only had a presence, but was widely respected as a player and coach by his peers. We are reaching out to those who care for Mike’s loved ones, and to anybody whose life has been impacted by Mike, and to give back to his family.
All funds will be used for funeral expenses, and paying bills, to ensure that Melanie can afford to finance the continuing education of her four sons. Given the financial strain that the COVID-19 pandemic has put on the economy and the fact that Melanie Warnes will now be the sole provider for her four children, any donations would be much appreciated and immediately used for the aforementioned necessities. We are asking out of love.
We are in the midst of a pandemic, our country is coming to terms with racial injustice, and the future is unknown. To move forward in any endeavor, we must act with loving compassion. We know that everyone is suffering through hardship, trauma, loss, and grief during this time. We are acutely aware that every penny counts.
We want to be there for the Warnes Family in the same way that they support, uplift, and love each of us. Mike Warnes was loved by so many different people. He was a father, husband, son, brother, coach, role-model, a mentor, and a friend. Mike was an inspiration, and his legacy will continue to live on.
Love, healing, and blessings to all.
Thank you so much for any and all support. We love you.
Sincerely,
Friends of Mike and Melanie Warnes
