Support for Thompson Family After Tragic Loss

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

As many of you know, my dad recently passed away, and our family is still navigating the pain of his loss. He was an incredible man who brought so much happiness, joy, and adventure to our lives. To honor his life and legacy, we are raising money for a memorial bench in one of his favorite parks—a place where he loved to golf, spend time in nature, and connect with his friends.

This bench will be a place for our family, friends, and community to visit, reflect, and remember the amazing person he was.

We’re halfway to our goal, but the unexpected costs of cremation, medical bills, and now adjusting to life without him have been overwhelming. My parents worked together as a team, running a successful home appraisal and inspection business for the past 20 years. Unfortunately, with my dad gone, my mom doesn’t have the proper license to continue their work right now, leaving her out of work as she grieves. They never discussed this happening to either of them, since they felt they were so young still, at just 59 and 63, so this is an incredibly hard time. My dad would have never wanted to leave my mom like this.

My dad had symptoms a week prior to his death and took the steps necessary to try to prevent anything from happening. My mom took him to urgent care on a Thursday night when he was experiencing severe pain traveling through his body, but hurt the most in his chest. He thought he was having a heart attack, so urgent care rushed them to the emergency room. Tragically, the doctor didn’t do their job properly and sent him home after only clarifying that it wasn’t a heart attack, without any further testing.

Even if you google his symptoms, it says it’s a blood clot. And that’s what it was. My dad died that Monday morning of a pulmonary embolism. Grieving a loved one’s life who could have probably been saved hurts so much more than you can even imagine.

We’re humbly asking for a little extra support—not just for the bench, but to help ease the financial burden on my mom and our family as we figure out this next chapter of life. Any donation, no matter how small, means the world to us.

Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us celebrate my dad’s incredible legacy. He was truly one of a kind, and this bench will help keep his memory alive for years to come.

With love and gratitude,
Thompson Family
