Support for Tom Johnson and family

Our hearts are heavy today as we have suddenly and unexpectedly been informed that our Grandpa Tom has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukaemia (A.L.L.). This has come as a shock to all of us as he was healthy as a horse days ago with no signs or symptoms. With the information available at this time, we know that Tom's leukaemia is very aggressive and is progressing rapidly. Chemotherapy will not be an option for Tom and he has been given only weeks left to live. He will be moving into palliative care indefinitely. This means that Tom will never leave the hospital. 

Tom who is now 73, has been the main provider for his family for many years and has taken so much more on in the last 6 months to support and care for his wife Linda as she has struggled through kidney failure, kidney disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and several other extensive health issues. Both Tom and Linda have accumulated medical bills and now under the circumstances, Linda does not have the funds to pay for parking at the hospital to visit her husband, let alone to cover her living expenses. Toms wish is to not leave his wife with a financial burden, and it is the family’s hope that the weight and worry of Linda’s living expenses and Tom’s funeral costs do not weigh on what time we do have left to spend with our loved one. 

Tom has always been a talkative, loving individual that always has a story to share. He is friendly and social and is greatly cared for by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his very new great-granddaughter. Tom and Linda are set to have their 19th wedding anniversary on August 19th.
