Grey For Trey-Fighting ATRT Brain Cancer
No one knows your child better than you and if your gut tells you something is wrong, don't give up on getting the care your child needs. While I have prayed that my gut was wrong and that we would only need to see a GI specialist as recommended, that has not been the case. My husband Greg and I made numerous visits to the doctors office only to be told every time that our son, Trey, had a viral infection.
On March 7th, after many attempts to get someone to take our concerns seriously about our son's health, someone finally did. While I wish I never had to face something like this, our little boy, Gregory Lowman III (Trey), was diagnosed with a tumor covering over half of his precious brain. Our baby is only two. Nothing can ever prepare you for the amount of pain, stress, fear, and anxiety a diagnosis like this can cause.
After an intensive 7 hour surgery, unfortunately the road ahead is still uncertain and a long path to recovery. His ongoing medical needs, chemotherapy, and care will be more than we can manage alone. The fear, pain, heartache, and stress are unimaginable, but I am finding strength through Trey.
Trey is full of life, love, and lights up every room with his big personality. He has been incredibly strong and brave through it all. Knowing how strong he has been gives me strength. He is resilient and his journey has just begun.
Many have reached out to see how they can help. I wish I knew but unfortunately we have a lot to work through the next 72 hours. They say it takes a village and lord knows we will need help to get through this. There is still a lot we don't know yet, but we do know we will need continuous prayers, love, and support. We are grateful to the doctors, nurses, clergy, down to the frontline workers who have worked around the clock to help our family during this difficult time! To our family, friends, and everyone who has kept us in their thoughts and prayers, we thank you!
