Support for Tyra

On September 5th 2020, our lives were changed. Tyra suffered a major stroke (left-brain ischemic), which resulted in paralysis on the right side of the body affecting her physical capabilities, as well as greatly affecting her speech and cognitive abilities. Fortunately, she has gained movement in her right leg which has helped her with learning to walk again. Tyra remains with paralysis in her right arm, as well as impaired speech, which requires ongoing occupational, speech, and physical therapy.  These therapy sessions are helping to strengthen and improve her gait and balance, as well as her aphasia and communication.  

As many of you know, Tyra is a phenomenal and inspirational women who is strong and full of life. She is always willing to help others and serves as an advocate for all. Tyra has been a foster mother over the past twelve years. She has always been very active in her church community, as well as serving as an active member in the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee. Tyra has helped so many throughout the years and we humbly ask for the support and help of family and friends through donations as Tyra is going through this difficult time.
