Support for Union Towers 2 Fire Displaced Residents

Hi! My name is Aindrea Benduzek and I’m the granddaughter of one of the residents who is currently displaced by the fire at Union Towers 2 on Broad St. in Weymouth, MA. The fire in the building was just 2 apartments down from my Nana on the top floor. My Nana and her friends, her COMMUNITY, are heartbroken to be displaced and not with one another during such a hard time. WITH that said: the community of Weymouth and all of the first-responders on Sunday were no less than extraordinary! Weymouth and their circle of Elder Services have been wonderful.

The apartments are uninhabitable right now due to smoke and water damage: the whole half of the building.

My Nana is staying with family but she has friends that don’t have the ability to do that. There are also a lot of residents in for a long headache with their insurance companies to cover the cost of the damage that has been done to their homes. They’re going to need new beds, furniture, towels, televisions, slippers, tables—you name it, they need it. I would like to put a fund together to help the residents get what they need when they’re finally able to go back home. Luckily: my Nana’s home is okay—only smoke damage. But her friends, her tribe and her community—the people she loves just as much as my family: are very much in need. Any bit helps! I’d love to give back to the people at Union Towers 2 that have already been through so much in the past year alone. (If you know, you know!)
