Support for Valarie Burlingame

The Makisi family is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Valarie Burlingame.

It is with a heavy heart we share in February 2022 Valarie has been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma Cancer, essentially bile duct cancer. This is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. It has been an extremely rough road these last few months for Valarie going through chemo. She was advised in late March early April that the size of her tumor made her ineligible for surgery at that time. After months of being on chemo the tumor made some progress on shrinking which made her eligible for surgery. On September 7th during surgery the doctors found that the removal of the tumor was unsuccessful. Unfortunately surgery is the only cure at this time for this type of cancer.

While having her husband Kellen being her care taker and primary provider this will help by taking some stress off their already full plates with donations to help with medical, out of pocket, traveling out of state for treatment, day-to-day, and any other expenses that may come their way.

We may not know what lies ahead in the next days, weeks, or months but what we do know is that this is going to be a very tough battle, but Valarie is ready to fight and she has an army of loved ones by her side. Your generosity is very much appreciated, and every little bit will help them enormously.
