Support for Valencia: Rebuilding After the Floods

My name is Laura Fernandez, and I am reaching out to ask for your support in a cause that is very close to my heart. My hometown, Valencia — a city celebrated for its vibrant culture, warmth, and light — has recently been devastated by the worst flooding in its history. The destruction has been unimaginable: lives have been lost, thousands of families have been displaced, and nearly half a million people now face serious economic challenges as they work to rebuild from this tragedy.

Living far from home, I feel an intense need to help in any way I can, though it is hard not being there to offer direct support. I realize now that one of the greatest challenges of living abroad isn’t simply learning a new language or adapting to a different culture, but feeling the weight of being away from loved ones when they need help the most.

This GoFundMe has been created to bring a small bit of relief to those affected. 100% of the funds raised here will go directly to support the people of Valencia. I am currently working on identifying the best ways to channel the support — whether it be through a local association, which can use the funds to help rebuild community infrastructure, or by distributing the funds directly to the affected families who are most in need. I will keep everyone updated on how the funds are allocated as this develops.

Any amount you can give will be a tremendous help in easing the hardships that so many are now facing. Even the smallest donation will make a difference, bringing hope to a city that has lost so much.
