Support for Venezuelan Migrant Family
Spende geschützt
Over 10,000 migrants - many of them fleeing desperate conditions in Latin America - have arrived in Denver during the last 6 months.
On a rainy evening last week, I met a Venezuelan family in the parking lot of a local Walmart. Over the last year, they walked from Venezuela to El Paso, Texas where they caught a bus to Denver. (With their permission, we have shared their photo above.)
When I met them, they had recently arrived in Denver and had no place to stay.
Since that time, we have helped them move into an apartment, obtain some basic furnishings and groceries, and are gradually finding ways to build a community around them.
The father is looking for work, and my friends and I are enjoying our time with them as they start to adjust to life in a new and unfamiliar country.
I have spent $1,900 thus far to help cover the costs for a hotel, groceries and apartment furnishings, and I will utilize the donations to reimburse myself for the expenses I have already incurred. Any additional funds will be used to cover future expenses incurred by the family until they are able to survive without our assistance.
Please consider contributing as you are able as we seek to support our new friends.
Thank you!
