Support for Vietnam Vet John Castillo's Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

I come to you with a heavy heart but also with hope and determination. My beloved dad, John Castillo, a Vietnam War veteran, was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) in December. Despite never being a heavy drinker, his liver has been compromised for years and liver cancer developed. Doctors believe it to be a consequence of Agent Orange exposure during his service in Vietnam.

When we found out the news, we were hopeful and optimistic, but they recently informed us that there's no cure available and that the treatments would only potentially shrink or slow the cancer’s growth. Not eliminate it. Without treatment, we might only have a year left with him. This is unacceptable to me. Losing my mom three years ago, to the harsh effects of chemo and radiation left a deep scar, and I cannot bear the thought of my dad enduring the same or the possibility of losing him too.

My dad is the most loving, caring, and generous person I know. He has always put others needs above his own, showing selflessness and compassion so I want to do everything in my power to help him get well. After extensive research, we discovered an alternative treatment center abroad that gives us hope for a cure and a better quality of life. I truly believe that God and my mom have guided us to this remarkable place. Visiting the facility and speaking with the patients gave us hope—many of whom have become cancer-free after being in late stages. We knew this was the right place for us. My dad was admitted a week later, and we spent three weeks there. During this time, we witnessed numerous miracles, meeting people who had recovered from cancer that had spread to other parts of their bodies. The quality of life for everyone there was unbelievably great, and we are hopeful for my dad's recovery.

However, since this treatment is outside the US, it is not covered by insurance. This is why we urgently need your help. The funds we raise will cover the expenses associated with these alternative treatments, including medical consultations, specialized therapies, medications, and any other necessary interventions.

We believe these treatments hold the potential to make a significant difference in my dad's fight against cancer, offering us hope for a brighter future together. Your support can help us give my dad the best possible chance to overcome this battle and live a healthier, longer life.

Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and support. Every donation brings us one step closer to a miracle.

With heartfelt gratitude,
The Ramirez Family
