Help Us Keep Our Ferrets Safe
Washington Ferret Rescue and Shelter (WFRS) was recently forced to relocate to protect our ferrets — and the volunteers who care for them — from a growing wave of unmanageable crime and illegal activity surrounding our former shelter.
It broke our hearts to leave the space we had built with love. But remaining there would have put both animals and people in danger. As a 501(c)(3) animal shelter dedicated to protecting abandoned, abused, and neglected ferrets, staying would have been irresponsible and against everything we stand for.
Our amazing volunteers stepped up in extraordinary ways — personally covering all the moving and relocation expenses to make sure every ferret was transported safely to our new home. Not one donated dollar was used for the move. Their dedication is the reason our ferrets are safe today.
But now, we may be sued for breaking our lease. Since our founding , we have never walked away from a lease — not once. But this time, doing the right thing meant putting safety first.
We urgently need to raise $15000 and free our shelter from this legal and financial strain.
Your donation — no matter the amount — will help us close this painful chapter and move forward with hope. It will allow us to focus again on what matters most: providing love, care, and medical support for ferrets who have nowhere else to go.
Once we’re settled in, we would love to welcome you to our new shelter to see the beautiful, safe space your generosity helped create.
We realize this page states we have raised $7000, and that is because this GoFundMe has been open for many years, and many of our supporters use it to donate regularly. We also LOVE seeing your "in memory" donations!!
This is a recent and urgent need. If you can, make a gift today. You’ll be helping us protect our ferrets, honor our volunteers’ sacrifices, and continue our 30-year mission of compassion.
Thank you for believing in us — and in the lives we save together.
