Support for Young Athlete's Cardiomyopathy Medical Journey
Donation protected
My athletic, sweet 18-year-old son, has been diagnosed with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy recently. He was a basketball player for his high school team, but had to give up competitive sports in his senior year.
He is desperately in need of an AED to have at our home, but we cannot afford to purchase one. He has recently turned 18, is about to apply to our local community college, and is just a great kid. Now that he is an adult, all medical bills will be in his name. He has very expensive medical tests such as MRIs, CAT Scans, EKGs, Holter Monitors, 30-day Event Monitors, Cardiac Stress Tests, and others on a continuous basis, and will have them throughout his lifetime now.
We were told his ARVC, RBBB, wide QRS, Bradycardia, RVOT, and this disease has now become a bit aggressive, and that is why cardiomyopathy (heart muscle failure) has begun to have structural effects on his heart muscle. His EF is 44% at this time, and he is on medicine now.
I believe we can get an AED for $2-4K, I just started researching those once we were told it would be a good idea to have one at home just in case he ever has cardiac arrest. What a scary and horrific thought that is for me. I love him so much.
If anyone could please help him meet these financial goals, it would be a blessing to him, and our family. This is the first GoFundMe I have ever signed up for, even though I have tried to help others when I could on here. I just thought I would ask for medica expenses now that I/we need it. Thank you so much for reading his story!
