Support for Zekira and her battle with cancer

Dear friends and family,

 

As many of you know, our dear Zekira (age 59) has been battling metastatic stage 4 breast cancer since January 2018.

She has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation and had a mastectomy. She was doing well on oral medications, but her cancer has progressed since November 2020.

 

She has metastasis in her bones, kidneys, adrenals and her brain.

 

Her cancer caused an ischemic stroke and seizures in October 2021. She has had multiple infarcts on January 18, 2022 and unfortunately, another one today. She is currently in the hospital for further observation and rehydration.

 

We, as a family, have been supportive of her financial and emotional burden since her diagnosis. Her primary caretakers have been her son Tarik and daughter Kanita while her husband still works full time since he carries the medical insurance. Kanita is a full-time college student and also works part-time. Tarik has been helping with Zekira and his grandmother, who also needs care around the clock.

 

We are asking for additional financial support to give respite to the family that is caring for her around the clock.

Draga nasa familijo i prijatelji,

 

Kao što mnogi od vas znaju, naša draga Zekira (59 godina) bori se sa metastatskim rakom dojke od Januara 2018.

Prošla je više ciklusa hemoterapije i zračenja i imala je operacije da se skloni rak. Imala je uspjeh sa oralnim lekovima, ali njen rak je napredovao od Novembra 2020.

 

Zekira ima metastaze u kostima, bubrezima, nadbubrežnim žlijezdama i mozgu.

 

Njen rak je izazvao moždani udar i napade u Oktobru 2021. Imala je više infarkta Januara 18, 2022 i nažalost još jedan danas. Trenutno je u bolnici radi daljeg pregleda i rehidracije.

 

Mi, kao porodica, podržavamo njen finansijski i emocionalni teret od njene dijagnoze. Njeni primarni staratelji su sin Tarik i kćerka Kanita, dok njen suprug i dalje radi puno radno vrijeme jer snosi zdravstveno osiguranje. Kanita je redovan student, a radi i honorarno. Tarik pomaze oko Zekire i njegove nene, kojom je također potrebna njega.

 

Tražimo dodatnu finansijsku podršku kako bismo dali predah porodici koja o njoj brine danonoćno.
