Help Us Support the Fowl River Area Volunteer Firefighters and Their Families This Holiday Season

Our small but mighty team of eight dedicated volunteer firefighters in the Fowl River community go above and beyond every single day to keep us safe. They respond to emergencies, protect our homes, and serve with courage—often risking their own well-being to safeguard ours. These incredible individuals give so much to our community, and now, with the holidays approaching, it's our turn to give back.

The Fowl River Volunteer Fire Department (FRVFD) is composed of Chief John Corideo and eight volunteer fire fighters and a volunteer administrative assistant. Last year, they responded to over 1000 calls. Their area of coverage is over 35 square miles with a population of over 11,000. They put their life on the line to protect us and help us in emergencies and receive no compensation for it. Most have other jobs but give of their free time for us.

The FRVFD has an ISO rating of 5.5 which is great. This rating means they have an excellent response time. This equates to lower insurance rates for all who live in their district. Other areas close by are not so fortunate.

As homeowners, we pay only $60/year for fire protection. Businesses, no matter how large, only pay $100/year for fire protection. For businesses, this is your chance to say “Thank You” to our volunteer firefighters . For all of the people who were going to bake something for the bake sale, please donate what you were going to spend on the baked goods. This is our chance to show the FRVFD how much we appreciate what they do.

This holiday season, we’re raising $16,000 to provide financial support to these brave firefighters and their families. Many of these volunteers juggle multiple jobs and responsibilities, all while committing their time and energy to keep our community safe. The holidays can be a stressful time, and we want to help ease that burden for them and their families.

How Can You Help? We are asking for donations to help make the holidays a little brighter for the families of our local heroes. Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting these eight firefighters and their loved ones, helping them cover holiday expenses, gifts, and maybe even a much-needed break. No contribution is too small—every bit helps.
