Support Fox Sports "Ipad Guy" Chris Ober's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Chris Ober, a beloved member of the Fox Sports family, has heroically navigated a long and challenging medical journey—one defined by unwavering resilience and determination.

It all began shortly after his father’s passing in late 2011, when seemingly minor headaches and neck cramps led to alarming complications during a job interview trip in January 2012. Doctors quickly discovered a brain tumor, and Chris underwent emergency surgery on January 18, 2012. Amazingly, he left the hospital within a week and, with unwavering dedication, returned to work at the Daytona 500 the following month.

Over the next few years, Chris tackled multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He continued working at major sporting events, including the MLB All-Star Game and World Series. His commitment and passion for broadcasting shone through—even as an MRI after one season revealed that the tumor had returned. Determined not to give up, Chris joined a clinical trial and, by the end of 2014, an MRI showed that his tumor was gone.

Sadly, the reprieve did not last. In September 2022, a new MRI detected another tumor, leading to surgery in November. Complications caused seizures, landing Chris in a medically induced coma. He was transferred to another hospital to come off a ventilator, and subsequent treatments included proton radiation. Initially, doctors believed the ongoing difficulties—including partial paralysis on his left side—were due to another tumor recurrence. Ultimately, it was discovered that Chris had been suffering from radiation damage, which caused significant neurological setbacks and confined him to a wheelchair.

Today, Chris stands at a critical point in his recovery.

Although the radiation injury has subsided, he requires specialized rehabilitation to regain mobility and independence. He has been accepted into the Southern Crescent Traumatic Brain Injury Center , an advanced facility capable of providing the intense therapies he needs. Unfortunately, Chris’s current insurance will not cover this specialized service.

We are asking for your help to raise the funds necessary to send Chris to the Southern Crescent Traumatic Brain Injury Center, where he can finally receive the in-depth treatment and support he deserves.

Donations will be used to cover his inpatient program - a stay of 30 to 60 days. The total goal gets Chris inpatient treatment for 60 days or maybe even a little longer.

Chris has spent his career being a tireless and beloved team member, embodying what Fox is all about. He dreams of returning to the job he loves. Our goal is to bring him back for the All Star Game this year which is happening in his hometown of Atlanta, GA.

Your contribution—no matter the size—will bring him steps closer to that goal - literally and figuratively. On behalf of Chris, his family, and his Fox Sports family all over the country, thank you for your generosity and for sharing this campaign with anyone who might want to help.
