Support the Frat House Gay Bar

“If you’re gay, and you’re going to Garden Grove, then you’re going to the FRAT HOUSE.”
We’re organizing this GoFundMe to support the FRAT HOUSE, the legendary gay bar in Garden Grove, California.
On March 15th, FRAT HOUSE closed in accordance with Gov. Newsom’s order. The bar has applied for federal pandemic relief but has NOT been able to access any assistance.
We need your support to do the following:
1. Cover monthly expenses and the preparation for a safe reopening under Covid-19 regulations.
2. Support the staff/performers and their work within the community.
I, Nancy Nguyen, am organizing this fundraising as a friend of the FRAT HOUSE. Funds will be withdrawn by Michelle Heier AKA Shelly Heier (owner of FRAT HOUSE). She will divide the funds between the bar’s expenses and the staff/performers.
Since opening in April 1984, the Frat has been a beacon for LGBTQ+ rights in a historically conservative Orange County. In fact, the Frat is the last gay bar in Garden Grove, a city that once had 15+ gay bars.
Whether you live down the street from the Frat, or you were dragged there by your friends, we all have a story about how we discovered the Frat. Your support will make sure that the Frat continues to be a home for all who’ll find it.
