Support Friends of Wray Park
Donation protected
According to Friends of the Earth website: In the UK 'the average amount of green space for people in the most deprived neighbourhoods is less than nine square meters'. In Tollington (where Wray park is), it's just 2 meters squared. Every centimetre is precious and there's a group of neighbours who come together to maximise what we have in our park. Individuals donate seeds, seedlings, bulbs, cuttings, seedlings, saplings, garden tools, garden canes, braun, experience, all manner of things as well as endless. It's not a registered charity; there's nobody with the time and capacity to set one up. We could do with some funds to help us with our ongoing projects and activities, ideally about £1,000 per year.
Garden-wise our major 2023 project is rejuvenating the main flower boarder. This has meant lots of weeding and from July we’ve been planting it up so you can enjoy some beautiful plants and flowers that we anticipate will bring year-round interest. The plants have been arriving in stages and we’d love some locals to help us planting the last of them out as they arrive.
We learned in July that we have retained our Green Flag Award which has been really gratifying!
You might have come to the Big Buzz in May that we created to celebrate Bees.
This gave us the confidence to create a Summer Festival collaborating with Islington Council. This will be on 29th July 2023 from noon until 5pm. There’s going to be a lot going on and you can find out more from our website as well as by keeping your eye on the notice board by the Park entrance nearest to the Yvonne Connolly Garden on Thorpdale Road.
If you aren't in a position to donate, we'd really appreciate it if you would share our cause with friends and family and/or on social media, with those you believe might be in a better position financially to assist.
Please look us up www.mywray.org/join-us there’s lots going on and we welcome those who would like to join and be a part of what we are co-creating.
